BASS BOATS
Artificial Lures
Catch & Release
Maine is famous for it's salmon and trout fishing, but what is not generally known is, many of it's wilderness lakes and rivers are also teeming with smallmouth bass. The fishing experience itself is outstanding. This is not off shore fishing on huge lakes that resemble the ocean, this is always casting to a rock, a tree, a broken irregular shore line or a sunken bar in shallow water. It is seeing the strike and spectacular jumps because the fish are not deep, the water almost never gets that warm. On many lakes the scenery is breath taking, mountains tower above, the forest is unbroken and the water is clean and sparkling. The fish themselves are hard and healthy and when matched on 8 lb. test line, they do not come to the boat easily. We specialize in catching big fish, not large numbers of small fish. It is truly an undiscovered secret and one of the best fisheries in the United States.
We fish in out of the way remote waters that are lightly fished. I will demonstrate the proper way to fish the Banjo Minnow and teach you how to use it. We do not fish waters that have fishing/sporting camps on them. It is impossible to provide outstanding fishing if a lodge sends it's guests to the very best locations on a lake every single day. The secret to great fishing is to fish where others don't! We have a 20 foot tournament bass boat with a 200 H.P. motor, a jet boat for shallow rivers and a whitewater fishing cataraft for fishing heavy whitewater rivers. We supply top quality spinning rods and artificial lures.
Like any fishing experience, there are good days and bad days, but we always catch fish.
We guarentee fish on these trips or no pay.
Where do I stay?
You stay at the Northern Outdoors Outdoor Adventure Resort, a facility that I built in 1976 and later sold in 2003.Located on Route 201, in the Forks Maine, Northern Outdoors has it all; beautiful log lodge with stone fireplace, log cabins, huge hot tub, sauna, full service restaurant, bar, micro brewery, game room, paddle tennis, kayaks on a pond, swimming pool, camp ground and a host of outdoor activities from hiking to whitewater rafting. The accommodations range from deluxe cabins to a campsite. It can accommodate families and non fisherman who would rather go rafting on the Kennebec River, one of the premier class 4 whitewater rivers east of the Mississippi. Click on Northern Outdoors at bottom of page.

WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY?
All fishing is done by trailering to the body of water to be fished. The lodge is located next to the Kennebec River, but the best fishing is just up/or down river. The average distance can vary from 3 miles to 20 miles. There are sections of the Kennebec that also have ocean run stripped bass and can be fished by jet boat. This section is about 50 miles from the lodge and is a great trip, but it is a long day.
The Banjo Minnow was created on the wilderness waters of Maine
It was on these waters that I developed the concept of the Banjo Minnow. The sheer number of bass allowed me to know with certainty what worked and what didn’t work. I didn’t have to wonder if the reason I didn’t get a bite, was that there might not be fish where I was fishing. I quickly learned the exact movements that triggered a bite and the movements that only occasionally produced a bite. It was here that I discovered that random, irregular body movement and random directional action would produce far more strikes than mechanical or repetitive body movement and straight line directional movement. It became obvious to me that even the very best traditional lures were no match for a lure that actually duplicated real life like movement. It was here in the clear shallow water that I saw that many fish would chase a lure and look at it and then turn away. They chased it because they intended to eat it, but upon close inspection changed their mind. The answer was obvious, they didn’t like what they saw. Fish have excellent eye sight. I decided that my lure should actually look like a real minnow, not a cartoon minnow. I honestly do not believe that I would have ever created the Banjo Minnow if I had lived anywhere else. I had the perfect laboratory, the remote wilderness waters of Maine, unspoiled and full of fish. Oh, yes, if you ever thought the Banjo Minnow was just another TV lure, then I will show you the proof of what I say. “In clear water, or water with reasonable visibility, the Banjo Minnow will out fish any other type of lure in existence to day.” The harder the bite, the more effective the Banjo becomes. Bring all your lures, I only use the Banjo, I promise you, one day on a Maine lake will make you a better fisherman.
